Start with your home
Most EXO customers choose greys, blacks or whites, often matching their louvre roof to existing roofing, bargeboards or window joinery.
Look at the features closest to your outdoor area. Matching one of these can help the new structure feel like part of the original home. You don’t need to match everything. Choosing one existing colour to work with is a useful starting point.

A dark frame with lighter blades
Your frame and louvre blades don’t have to be the same colour. A combination we often like is a dark frame with lighter blades.
The darker frame can tie in with your joinery, roofing or bargeboards, while the lighter blades give a brighter appearance overhead. Using one colour throughout is another option if you prefer a uniform look.
Think about the view from inside your home, too. Your louvre roof will be visible from the rooms that open onto it, so consider how the colours look through those windows and doors.
Consider your lighting
If you are including LED strip lighting, it is worth choosing your blade colour with this in mind.
In our experience, the lighting effect tends to show better against lighter blades.
Consider how you want the space to look during the day and when you are sitting outside in the evening.
Looking beyond black, white and grey
Neutral colours are common choices, but they are only part of the range. We have also completed EXO roofs with woodgrain finishes, forest green and Kinetic brown finishes.
These offer other ways to coordinate with your home and its surroundings. You might want to pick up timber details, work with an existing green exterior or introduce a warmer brown.
FlaxPod is another colour we particularly like. Its warm charcoal tone sits between black and brown, making it worth considering if you want a dark finish with warmer undertones. Compare a physical sample with your roofing and joinery to see how it works at your property.
Matt, satin or gloss?
The surface finish changes how your chosen colour looks.
Matt has a low sheen and fewer strong reflections. Satin adds a gentle sheen. Gloss gives a shinier, more reflective appearance, particularly in direct sunlight.
If you are matching existing joinery, check its finish as well as its colour name. The same colour can look different when the sheen changes.

Coordinating your outdoor blinds
If you are adding Ziptrak blinds, you can choose the mesh colour separately from the framing. There is a wide range of mesh colours to consider alongside your roof, cladding and outdoor furniture.
The blind framing can be powder coated to match your louvre roof frame, or finished in another colour you choose. Matching the frames helps the roof and blinds look like one complete installation.
View mesh samples alongside your powder coating samples. Their different textures and appearances make it useful to see them together before deciding.
Does choosing two colours cost more?
Choosing different colours for your frame and blades does not, in itself, cost extra.
Pricing can vary depending on the colours and coating range selected. Some locations, particularly those exposed to sea spray, may also need a specific coating system. We’ll confirm these details when preparing your quote.

Online colour charts are useful for creating a shortlist, but screens cannot show exactly how a finish will look at your home.
View physical samples beside your cladding and joinery. Check them in sunlight and shade, and look from inside as well as outside. If you are matching an existing finish, share its colour name and finish details if you have them.
